Polls

People invited as voters who do not configure polls themselves find the matching guide under Voters.

Fundament includes a structured voting system that lets the team evaluate applications together.

How polls work

A poll connects a group of people with a selection of applications: each person in the assigned user groups casts one vote per application, optionally with a comment. Owners create polls in the main menu under Polls (Create Poll) with Name, Description, Groups, Applications, Start and End. Votes can only be cast or changed within this time window; after that, the poll is considered closed.

Further applications can also be assigned from the applications list: select the applications and click Assign Poll under Actions.

Vote mappings

The vote values and their labels (the vote mapping) apply to the whole organization. The default scale is Enthaltung (abstain), Nein (no), Eher Nein (rather no), Eher Ja (rather yes) and Ja (yes). The scale cannot be changed in the app; the Fundament team sets up a custom scale on request (for example “Reject”, “Neutral”, “Strong support”, or scores from 1 to 5). It is used when voting, in the evaluations and in exports.

A poll can also include Additional information for voting, such as a score or a written assessment per application. The Fundament team sets up these fields per poll as well.

Voting on an application

Open an application and scroll to the Vote section in the side panel. If the application belongs to several polls, first select the poll. Then choose an option of the scale and optionally enter a comment on the vote. The vote is saved automatically and can be changed at any time until the poll ends. In the applications list, the My Vote column shows one’s own vote per application; the Polls filter narrows the list to one poll.

Restricting a poll to a user group

The user groups assigned to a poll determine who may vote. Only members of these groups see the poll and can vote. This makes it easy to keep, for example, jury votes separate from internal votes.

Poll detail view

Clicking the name of a poll opens its detail page (Owners only). It shows key figures (Total votes, Eligible voters, Participation, Applications, Avg. vote) and an evaluation By application or By voter with the average and distribution of votes. The poll can also be edited, deleted or exported from here.

Clicking an application title opens the votes for that application, with a complete list of all assigned voters, whether or not they have voted yet. People without a vote appear as Not voted yet. The list can be filtered by this status; selected people can then be contacted directly via Send Email with a reminder template.

Exporting votes

Owners export votes with Export Votes, from the detail page of a poll or from the applications list toolbar (for the selected applications). The options are CSV in the Detailed layout (one row per vote) or Matrix layout (applications as rows, members as columns) and PDF; inactive polls can be included. See also Exporting Data.
