Forms
Forms are at the heart of Fundament. A form defines exactly what information applicants are asked to provide. Forms are made up of a wide variety of field types, organized into areas and form parts, and complemented with validation rules.
Forms are managed via the Forms item in the main navigation (visible to Owners only). The structure of a form (fields, areas, form parts) is currently set up by the Fundament team; see Building Forms.
What a form is made of
A form is organized in layers:
- Form: the top level, representing a single application type (e.g. “Grant Application 2025”)
- Form parts (sometimes called phases): major stages within the form. Most forms have one form part, but several can be used to collect information in steps.
- Areas: groups of related fields within a form part (like sections or chapters)
- Fields: the individual questions (text inputs, date pickers, file uploads, etc.)
Multiple active forms
Several forms can be active at the same time, for example one per funding round, program, or call for applications. Each form appears as a separate card on the portal; one or more of them can be featured on the portal start page.
